A personalized self assessment module using the RULA (rapid upper limb
assessment) tool to inform & educate employees on their posture at the
computer workstation and current potential risks and to offer improvements
to their posture and/or workstation. It also keeps a record for the employee
for future reference.
The internationally
accepted RULA System was developed by
Dr. Nigel Corlett and his associate Lynn McAtamney at the University of
Nottingham’s Institute for Occupational Ergonomics in the United
Kingdom.
Dr. Corlett and Ms. McAtamney
devised a system whereby a broad range of work activities where people
use wrists and arms repetitively can be surveyed, and potentially
harmful situations and conditions detected.
RULA allows a survey of various
tasks involving the upper limbs at work, focusing on the use of arms and
wrists, and the position of the head and posture of the upper body.
With the RULA System, an
organization may survey a broad range of computer-related work
activities involving repetitive motions to detect – and remedy –
potentially harmful situations and conditions.
Magnitude’s ErgoSURE solution
is a unique electronic version of RULA.
ErgoSURE utilizes
photographs instead of stick drawings to record how a person is working
and to determine postural deviations.

Postural assessments
are automatically scored.
With ErgoSURE,
assessment data may be analyzed and progress for an individual, or an entire
group, tracked over time.
In minutes, this sophisticated, easy
to use software completes assessments that may previously have taken hours.
Customized reports on an individual or selected group highlight potential
areas of concern.
Follow-up assessments may be
conducted to track progress and fine-tune ergonomic planning.
